net culture [1 record]

Record 1 2004-08-30

English

Subject field(s)
  • Aquaculture
  • Mollusks, Echinoderms and Prochordates
DEF

A suspended culture technique where scallops are put in nets for the intermediate or final grow-out stage.

OBS

Intermediate grow-out almost always occurs in pearl nets, but for the final grow-out stage, one has a choice between net culture (in pearl or lantern nets), ear hanging, and bottom seeding. The term "net culture" is mostly used in the context of final grow-out, but also applies logically to intermediate grow-out.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Aquaculture
  • Mollusques, échinodermes et procordés
DEF
